Prospect Watch: After being rained out on Thursday. The Chihuahuas split a doubleheader against the Astros’ Triple-A squad. … Veteran utilityman Tim Locastro combined to go 4-for-7 with a walk and three RBI in the contests. The 32-year-old opened the season on the injured list, but since joining the El Paso roster, he’s been a solid offensive contributor. In 38 games, the former big leaguer is hitting .301/.401/.470 – offensive production just above league average in the hitter-friendly PCL. In addition, he’s played all three positions in the outfield, as well as first base. He has appeared in 290 big league games, most recently in 2023. … Luis Campusano connected on his 13th homer of the year as part of a multi-hit game in the second contest. The 26-year-old has put up incredible offensive numbers in the minors this season, even by PCL standards. He has a 1.072 OPS, and his wRC+ of 151 leads the PCL (minimum 160 plate appearances). Campusano is just two homers away from a career high he first achieved in 2019 with the Storm and matched with El Paso in 2021. … Veteran Wes Benjamin started the first game and worked into the fifth inning. Overall, he allowed four runs in 4.1 innings. He walked one and struck out three. Despite the uneven outing Friday, the former Ranger has pitched quite well in June. He will finish up the month with a 2.95 ERA in four starts, spanning 21.1 innings. Perhaps the most encouraging sign for Benjamin is his vastly improved K-rate. In 16.2 innings in May, he punched out just seven batters; in June, he punched out 22 batters in 21.1 innings, despite rarely breaking 90 mph. … Eduarniel Núñez pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his second save as a Chihuahua. He allowed a hit and struck out a batter. Nuñez brought the heat, sitting at 99 mph and topping out at 101.1 mph. He needed just eight pitches to carve through the Space Cowboys. In 6.1 innings since joining the El Paso roster, the former Cubs farmhand has allowed just one hit.

Missions 6, Midland RockHounds 2

Prospect Watch: The Missions also played a doubleheader thanks to a rainy Thursday in Texas. The Missions split the twin-bill, winning the game they resumed in the second inning before losing the nightcap in an unscheduled eighth inning. … Kai Murphy had three hits in the opener, as he continues to hit well in June. The 24-year-old singled three times and drew a walk. Murphy doesn’t possess a ton of power, but he’s hitting an outstanding .327/.479/.385 with 14 walks and 10 strikeouts this month. Over the last 30 days, the former ASU star ranks second in the Texas League with a .456 on-base percentage. … System veteran Ripken Reyes also had three hits in the game one, including his fourth triple this season. Overall, Reyes is hitting .222/.343/.378 with the Missions – numbers that on the surface aren’t pretty, but they are actually above average in the Texas League. The 27-year-old has been a steady presence throughout his time in the system. He’s amassed over 1500 plate appearances in the minors – and has nearly completed his Ph.D. –  since the Padres drafted him in 2019, giving him a $5,000 bonus. … The box score shows Henry Baez had his shortest outing of the season Friday, but it had nothing to do with performance. The 22-year-old tossed 1.2 innings on Thursday before the game was suspended due to rain. … Enmanuel Pinales came on as the game resumed Friday, making what was essentially a start. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out five. The righty has performed well in four outings this month, posting a 1.76 ERA with 15 strikeouts against seven walks in 15.1 innings. … Victor Lizarraga made his first appearance in two weeks, throwing a scoreless inning to start off the second game. The 21-year-old walked off the mound with a trainer on June 13, but it appears that he has avoided a serious injury. The former Montgomery High pitcher has had an inconsistent year, but he has a 1.42 ERA in a small, 12.2-inning sample this month. … Jagger Haynes followed Lizarraga and turned in a quick second inning with a strikeout, but never looked fully comfortable on the mound in the outing. He punched out the leadoff batter in the third inning before a walk and hit batter. Catcher Brandon Valenzuela summoned the training staff to check in with Haynes. The lefty remained in the game, but then gave up a three run homer. One out later, he took a line drive off his backside for an infield hit, then a bloop single before giving way. Overall, Haynes labored through 41 pitches while recording five outs, getting only 24 strikeouts in the process.

Great Lakes Loons 8, TinCaps 0

Key Statistics: DH Sean Barnett 1-for-3; RHP Isaiah Lowe (L, 2-7) 4.1 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K; LHP Bodi Rascon 3.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K; RHP Luis Germán IP, BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps emulated the Padres Friday night, managing just one hit in a loss in front of over 7,000 at Parkview Field. … Two-way player Sean Barnett had the lone hit for the TinCaps, as the club struck out 14 times. Since making his first pitching appearance on June 4, the right-handed slugger is just 6-for-28 with a .286 slugging percentage at the plate. … Isaiah Lowe’s inconsistent 2025 campaign continued Friday, as the North Carolina native struggled. The 22-year-old tossed 4.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on eight hits. While he struck out four, walks continue to plague Lowe. He allowed four more on Friday and has now issued 35 free passes in just 49 innings. In his breakout campaign last season, he issued just 46 walks in 105.1 innings. Friday’s outing raised his ERA to 6.06. … Lefty Bodi Rascon took over for Lowe and pitched fairly well. He allowed two runs on three hits over 3.2 innings, walking two and striking out four. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in his return from Tommy John surgery, walking a batter per inning during his time with the TinCaps. He looked sharper than he has in some time Friday, so hopefully the Texas native can build on the performance in the season’s second half.

Storm 5, Modesto Nuts 3

Key Statistics: LF Kaden Hollow 1-for-3, R, 2B, 3 RBI; C Lamar King Jr. 1-for-3, R, BB; RHP Johan Moreno 3.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 4 K; RHP Carson Swilling 1.2 IP, 4 K

Prospect Watch: The Storm scored all five of their runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Nuts at home. Lake Elsinore only had two hits total in the game, but they took advantage of five walks and a critical error to earn the win. … Left fielder Kaden Hollow had a three-run double that ended up being the difference in this one. Hollow, 24, has just three career homers in 137 professional games, but he’s been a steady presence in the Storm lineup. He’s drawn 40 walks this season, which has contributed to a solid .373 on-base percentage. … Catcher Lamar King Jr. extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double in the Storm victory. The 21-year-old catcher has had a fantastic season but his performance in June has been otherworldly. King is hitting an incredible .403/.506/.582 and has reached base in every game this month. He leads the Cal League in all three categories for June. He rarely strikes out and is showing tremendous ability as a baserunner as well. While King still needs to sharpen his skills behind the plate, he’s showing what he can do now that he’s finally healthy for the first extended time since he was selected in the fourth round three years ago. It wouldn’t be surprising to see King in Fort Wayne in the next few weeks. … After Johan Moreno had a bit of an uneven night, righty Carson Swilling looked sharp, punching out four of the five hitters he faced. The South Alabama pitcher signed with the organization last year as undrafted free agent. He’s given up 14 hits in 10.2 innings with the Storm, but he’s walked just two batters while striking out 15 batters.

ACL Brewers 5, ACL Padres 3

Key Statistics: 2B Luis De Leon 2-for-4, R, BB, HR (2), 2 RBI; SS Jose Sanabria 2-for-4, R, 2B, 3B; 3B Kevin Hacen 2-for-2, RBI, R; RHP Maikel Miralles 2 IP, 2 K; RHP Erick Batista (L, 0-2) 2.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, K

Prospect Watch: The ACL Padres lost at home Friday, dropping their record to a dismal 10-31. … Third baseman Kevin Hacen, who signed with the Padres out of the Dominican Republic in 2023 for $20,000,  had a pair of singles and drove in a run in the loss. The 19-year-old has a .545 OPS in his first season stateside. … Switch-hitting second baseman Luis De Leon had a pair of hits, including his second homer of the season. The 19-year-old has been one of the bright spots on an otherwise brutal season for the ACL team. De Leon has a .299 average and a .772 OPS. … Organizational nomad Jose Sanabria doubled and tripled Friday. The 22-year-old infielder has played at every level but Double-A in his career, mostly as a depth piece. He started the season with the TinCaps but was sent back to the ACL a couple of weeks ago after struggling in a limited role. He has an .841 OPS in seven games at the complex after producing a paltry .472 OPS in Fort Wayne. … Righty Maikel Miralles pitched two scoreless innings to start the day as he began a rehab assignment. He struck out a pair before departing. The 20-year-old righty started the season with the Storm but hit the injured list at the end of May. Miralles should return to the Lake Elsinore rotation once he is stretched out.
